The President presented letters of credence to the Lithuanian Ambassador to Estonia

On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda presented credentials to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Estonia, Raimonda Murmokaitė.

The President and the newly appointed Ambassador to Estonia discussed common issues related to the transatlantic agenda of Lithuania and Estonia and the strengthening of security in the Baltic region. The meeting underlined the importance of regional cooperation between the Baltic and Nordic countries. The President stressed the need to coordinate joint actions and positions at international level in the face of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Gitanas Nausėda also pointed out the need to ensure continued attention to energy security and critical infrastructure projects, in particular to accelerating the synchronization of the Baltic electricity systems with continental Europe.

Ambassador Murmokaitė previously headed the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations and worked at the Lithuanian Embassy in Italy. The diplomat has been awarded the Cross of Commander and the Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.
