Minister of Culture’s Visit to Tallinn: Strengthening the Cultural Partnership Between Lithuania and Estonia
Minister of Culture Vaida Aleknavičienė paid a visit to Tallinn on Friday, where she discussed strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation and expanding institutional ties.
During her meeting with Estonian Minister of Culture Heidy Purga, V. Aleknavičienė expressed her gratitude for the partnership and discussed further cultural cooperation as well as cultural policy issues relevant to both countries.
“Cultural ties between Lithuania and Estonia are exceptionally close, supported by active dialogue among creators and partnerships between cultural institutions. Joint projects demonstrate a strong cultural bond, and this visit is yet another step toward fostering and expanding our successful cooperation,” noted Minister V. Aleknavičienė.
During her visit to Tallinn, the minister also visited key Estonian cultural institutions. At the Arvo Pärt Center, she met with the foundation’s director, Michael Pärt, and the center’s director, Anu Kivilo. At the Niguliste Art Museum, the minister spoke with the museum’s director, Merike Kurisoo. V. Aleknavičienė also met with Gitana Skripkaitė, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Estonia.
The highlight of the visit was a performance of the ballet “Coppelia” by the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater (LNOBT) at the Estonian National Opera, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian ballet. Following the performance, a reception was held on behalf of the ambassador, during which the Minister of Culture delivered a welcoming address to the assembled guests.
