EXIBITION IN NATIONAL LIBRARY OF ESTONIA
On January 9, 2009, in the National Library of Estonia it was opened the exhibition dedicated to the Millennium of Lithuania “Lithuania: Culture and History“ presented by Lithuanian Art Museum. The portable exhibition “Lithuania: Culture and History” covers all of our state’s cultural and political history. It begins with the first time the name Lithuania was mentioned in Quedlinburg St. Servatius’s Annals in 1009 while ending with the restoration of Lithuanian independence along with the nation’s accession into the European Union and NATO. The festive opening of the exhibition was commenced by the Director General of National Library of Estonia Janne Andresoo. Ambassador of Lithuania to Estonia Juozas Bernatonis expressed delight that this year Lithuania is celebrating an outstanding jubilee and that on this occasion people and guests of Estonia have an opportunity to get acquainted with long and glorious history of our country, it’s culture and art. The representative of Lithuanian Art Museum Mindaugas Šapoka has introduced the guests with the idea and content of the exhibition. A numerous representatives of Estonian state, culture and art institutions, foreign states diplomats residing in Tallinn, Lithuanian community of Estonia took part in the opening of the exhibition. The exhibition “Lithuania: Culture and History” is open January 9 - 21, 2009 at National Library of Estonia, 6th floor Exhibition Hall on Mondays-Fridays 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturdays 12 a.m. – 7 p.m., closed on Sundays.
