Celebrate 25yrs of Baltic Way!

25 years ago, we joined hands physically in the BalticWay. These days, social media tools enable us to “join hands virtually”.

The idea is simple; let us once again connect our hands and hearts! Click support on the "Celebrate 25 yrs of the #BalticWay!" cause on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr and on 23 August at 12:00 am all users that joined and supported the campaign will share the same message on their feed along with other supporters: “Let's share the message on socialmedia & prove - the spirit and memory of the Baltic Way 1989-08-23 are alive.” We will stand together for freedom and against aggression, will spread the message across the social media and prove – the spirit and memory of the Baltic Way 1989-08-23 will always be alive!

The Baltic Way or Baltic Chain (also Chain of Freedom) was a peaceful political demonstration that took place on August 23, 1989. The chain connected the three Baltic capitals – Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn. Approximately two million people joined hands to form a human chain spanning over 600 kilometres (370 mi) across the three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The demonstrators peacefully linked hands for 15 minutes at 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT).
